Lois Gwen Techick, 97, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Lincoln Court in Idaho Falls, ID.
Lois was born February 15, 1927, in Blackfoot, Idaho to Raymond Elliott Stephens and Eloise Thompson Stephens. She grew up in Blackfoot until she was 14, then moved to Oakland, Ca. where her dad was stationed at the Naval Supply Depot in Alameda. After two years her family returned back to Idaho.
After graduating in 1948, she received her Registered Nurse Certificate. During her employment at St. Marks Hospital, she met an intern by the name of Jack Reines. They married in Utah where they were living. After he completed his internship to become a Doctor, he wanted to start his practice in a small town so they relocated to Arco, Id where her parents were running a dry cleaning business. They later divorced.
Lois met the love of her life, Ed Techick, when she was seeking training for her horse, (Ed is in the Horseman's Hall of Fame). Lois and Ed married on December 19, 1953 and settled down building a life together in Arco with his two older children, Terrell and Teresa. Lois became the local public health nurse, after a few other employment adventures including running the dry cleaners and NRTS, National Reactor Testing Station, she was the public health nurse for Butte and Southern Custer County for 27 yrs. Lois enjoyed her career path very much, giving thousands of immunizations and traveling up and down the valley seeing people and delivering meals on wheels.
Lois enjoyed photography, traveling with Ed, hard work, and their many accomplishments. Ed and Lois had many adventures and enjoyed each other until Ed's passing in 2010.
She is survived by Sheila Hernandez, Janice Techick and Rob Stauffer, 11 grandchildren including Timothy (Chantel) Techick, 35 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dean Stephens, husband Ed Techick, Teresa Caverhill, Pennie Stauffer, Terrell Techick, and two grandchildren Dax and Destrey Stauffer.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 12 Noon at the Anderson Family Funeral Home. A viewing will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco, Idaho.
