Lola Bruce Denton, age 96, passed away on November 30 in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born in Bath County on November 3, 1927 to the late John White and Mary Glover White. Lola Bruce was a member of the Sugar Grove Christian Church while growing up then as an adult she attended the Owingsville Methodist Church. She was married to Andy Denton from 1949 until 1968. Lola Bruce worked for Delta Natural Gas Company for many years before retiring. She had a love for many things, her cats and dogs being one of them. Everyday she would take a drive through the country with Betty Ruth Rawlings. They would just ride around and see what was new in the county, as they talked and enjoyed each other's company. These two loved to travel together, have game nights and just spend time with friends. Lola Bruce was an avid UK basketball fan. She was take a charter bus with her friend, Louise Goldy, and they would travel to many games to cheer on the Wildcats. Lola was a member of the historical society and loved to see old buildings being restored. She could give a lot of information on the history of her community. Lola Bruce enjoyed life. She was a loyal, loving friend, a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her grandchildren were so special to her and she loved the time she was able to spend with them. She always gave the best hugs, advice and made them all feel so very loved. Lola Bruce will be missed dearly and will be remembered as a kind, loving, classy lady that cared for everyone around her.
Lola Bruce is survived by one son, Tom Denton; one daughter, Andrea Bruce Denton Durr and her husband, John; two beloved granddaughters, Sarah Bruce Gass and her husband, Jordan; Caroline Durr; four great grandchildren, Walker Gass, Maisie Bruce Gass, Emma Lou Gass and Tucker Gass; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Ed White (Nell) and Bill White (Peggy) ; two sisters, Virginia Lowry (Raymond) and Mary D. Scott (Don).
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel at the Richardson Funeral Home with Brother Mike Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.
Family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to The Love of Paws with Pat Henry.
