Lonnie Otto Adank, age 84, of Cochrane, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023.
Lonnie, and his twin brother, Lyle, were born on December 9, 1939 in Arcadia to David and Alvina (Kalina) Adank.
Lonnie honorably served the United States as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard.
On July 25, 1959, Lonnie was united in marriage to Charlene C. Maier at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waumandee. To this loving union, 7 children were born.
Lonnie was an electrician by trade and worked as a lineman in Arcadia, was an experienced welder and was employed for several different municipalities, including, the City of Arcadia and the Village of Cochrane in Wi and worked for the City of Medford,MN and managed farms for Dough Boy/Faribest Foods. Lonnie was faithful in the catholic faith and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waumandee and would regularly attend St. Lawrence or St. Mary’s Catholic Churches in Alma and Fountain City. His faith was also evident as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
In his retirement, Lonnie and his wife had a gyro stand and served at many local events, different festivals and art shows throughout the area. Lonnie enjoyed hunting and fishing…especially for catfish.
Not only was Lonnie a man of faith, but he was a man of great character with a gentle soul and giving heart. He was a soft spoken and friendly gentleman to everyone he met. Lonnie will remain in the hearts of all those he touched.
Lonnie will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 64 years, Charlene; children, Julie (David) Kalk, Kristie (Ritchie) Heiderscheidt, Scott (Lucy) Adank, Vickie (Frank) Gasner, Jodie (Rana) Adank and David Adank; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; Siblings, Dale (Pat) Adank, Ruth (Stanley) Swenson and Debbie (Steve) Knutson; Sisters in law, Sue Adank and Teckla Adank; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lonnie was preceded by his infant son, Jeffrey Allan Adank; his brothers, Lyle Adank, Jerome (Mary Ann) Adank, Gordon Adank, sister, Ruby (Robert) Schlesser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 12:00 noon at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waumandee with Father Arul Doss as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Knights of Columbus, St. Judes, the Heart Association or charity of your choice.
