Lonnie Allen Menie

Lonnie Allen Menie was born November 21, 1954 in Muskogee, OK the son of Andrew "Mutt" and Ethel (Hendrix) Menie. He passed from this life on September 5, 2024 in Tahlequah, OK. He was 69.
Lonnie grew up in Webbers Falls where he graduated high school. While in High School, Lonnie was the quarterback on the Warrior Football team, played basketball, and was a member of the FFA organization. After graduating from high school, Lonnie worked at the Fina Truck Stop at Biscuit Hill in Webbers Falls. After that job, he went to work for Smokey Blu before going into Commercial construction. This job had him traveling all over the United States. On one of the jobs he met the office manager, Lori Baker. She later became his wife in 1990 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She joined the family of Lonnie, Dawn, Odis and Tamra. They later completed their family adding Shelby and Colby. They continued working together on jobs until their first child, Shelby started school at Webbers Falls. Then Lonnie had to count on his friends to keep him company on the many jobs that his family did not go with him.
When Lonnie was not working he loved hunting, fishing, and working on his land. If Lonnie was inside he would be watching football, and if it wasn't football season then he would be watching Gunsmoke and Bonanza.
Lonnie was a man who took care of his family and friends. You could tell this because he took care of the kids and his wife while she was fighting Breast Cancer, and after she had a heart attack. He was Lori's Angel on Earth. In the last year Lori was the one taking care of Lonnie while he was the one needing help.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Lori Menie; his mother Ethel Menie; children Dawn Barnes, Odis Menie, Tamra and Craig Newburn, Shelby Menie and Sean Powless, Colby and Pepper Menie; grandchildren Chandler Barnes, Olivia Menie, Eli Menie, Nathan Menie, Kimi Presnell, Kylee Harrison, Kiptyn Presnell, Skylar Powless, Casey Menie and expected soon, Oliver Menie; sister in law Dana and Matt Kelly and father in law John P Baker.
He was preceded in death by his Father Andrew "Mutt" Menie; brother Larry Menie, sister Sheila and Odis Craighead, mother in law Frankie Baker and sister-in-law Barbara Livingston Menie Coleman.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday September 12, 2024 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home in Muskogee with Rev. Floyd Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Vaught Cemetery in Webbers Falls under the care and direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home.
