Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory - FarmingtonLoren “Chuck” McHenry III of Ironton entered eternal rest at his residence on August 11, 2025, at the age of 74. He was born on February 11, 1951, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Loren “Mac” C. McHenry II and Norma J. (Hood) McHenry.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Diane McHenry; his children, Jessica E. Killian (Sean) and Loren C. McHenry IV; his stepson, Vincent Duncil (Samantha); his grandchildren, Sofia, Michael, Madison, and Quinton; and the mother of his children, Linda (Wells) McHenry.
A man of both intellect and passion, Chuck began his academic journey at West Point Military Academy, where he was part of the H4 Unit. He continued his education at the University of Notre Dame, earning a degree in Chemical Engineering. He later pursued advanced studies in alternative energy at Florida State University in Gainesville before attending the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC), where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. For 38 years, he faithfully served his community through his dental practice, Loren C. McHenry DDS, in Ironton, retiring in 2016.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chuck had a deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid kayaker and longtime member of the Missouri Whitewater Association, where he not only competed as a champion whitewater racer but also taught and inspired others across the country. His love of hiking, gardening, and horticulture reflected his profound connection to nature—something he saw as a spiritual bond and an expression of his relationship with God.
Chuck will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering dedication to his family, patients, and the great outdoors.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until the start of the memorial service at 5:00 p.m. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
