Loren Ray Greer

Loren Ray Greer, 81, of Zeigler, IL, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Herrin Hospital.
Loren was born on August 24, 1944 in Kentucky to Jesse and Nellie (Carroll) Greer. He was first married to Jane Robinson and to this union two children were born. He later married Susie Eldridge and she preceded him in death.
Loren worked as a lumberjack. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and was an all-around happy person.
Survivors include his son, Jesse Greer of Little Rock, AR; daughter, Verna Stacy (Bryan) of Zeigler, IL; brothers, Kenny Greer (Debbie), Ricky Greer (Dorothy), Will Greer, and Fred Greer; sisters, Nancy Rosenbeck (Ray), and Barb Troxell (David); grandchildren, Danny Stacy, Alex Stacy, Adam Stacy (Brianna Jones), and Henry Stacy; great-grandchildren, Matthew Patrick, Ethan Stacy, Carson Stacy, and Logan Stacy; numerous nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susie; brothers, Danny Greer, Larry Greer, and Eddie Greer; and sisters, Peggy Greer, and Donna Coltus.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stone Funeral Home, 1201 East Poplar Street, West Frankfort, IL.
As per Loren's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
