Lorena Stowe Holcomb Agnew

Lorena Stowe Holcomb Agnew of Toccoa gained her wings and entered her eternal home on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Having been born in rural Franklin County on April 6, 1923, she was 102 years old. She was the youngest of 12 children born to Henry W. Stowe and Lura H. Stowe. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joel B. Holcomb, and step-son, John Agnew.
She was the widow of the late Joe Agnew of Lavonia, who died in 1999. She is survived by his sons and their families: Ronald & Belinda Agnew of Winder, Katrina & Richard Conway and family of Athens, Sarabeth & Matt Adams and family of Toccoa, Rebecca & Iain Cresswell and family of Claverdon, UK; David & Gloria Agnew of Clarkesville, Brian Agnew of Washington, DC and Colin & Mallory Agnew of Madison.
She is also survived by former daughter-in-law, Willene W. Keel, of Cleveland, along with numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Clary Care Center in Toccoa for their kind and supportive care over the many years that Lorena spent there. Also, a very special thanks to Sue Coleman, Lorena's primary sitter, who spent countless hours being not only Lorena's devoted caretaker but also her dear and special friend.
Lorena was retired from Coats and Clark in Toccoa. She was the past Worthy Matron of Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Lavonia United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, beginning at 10:00 am at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in Toccoa. Funeral service will follow immediately at 11:00 am in the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Ben Wilcox officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, John Stowe, Richard Conway, Eli Conway, Carter Fowler, Brian Agnew and Colin Agnew.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Lavonia First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 176, Lavonia, Georgia 30553 in memory of Lorena Agnew.
Interment will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens where a graveside committal service for immediate family only will follow the service.
Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory of Toccoa is in charge of the arrangements for Lorena Stowe Holcomb Agnew.
