Lorene C. Larson, 88, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Shippensburg Healthcare Center. Born December 24, 1934 in Oakdale, KY, she was a daughter of the late June Cundiff and Ora Cundiff Simmons. Her beloved husband of 55 years, Rev. Carl David Larson, preceded her in death on June 20, 2008.
After high school, Lorene earned a bachelor's degree in education and was employed as a teacher at Cumberland Valley Christian School in Chambersburg. She was a member of The Open Door Church and was active in Christian Women's Clubs and After 5 Clubs throughout her life. Lorene also published a devotional book, "Lessons for Living".
She is survived by four children, Dan Larson (Lori) of Chambersburg, Phil Larson (Carol) of Greenville, SC, Christy Evans of Chambersburg, and Debbie Wall (Lee) of Columbus, GA; eleven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three siblings, Lois Cramer, JoAnn Savino and Dorothy Wood; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Eugene Larson; and two grandchildren, Andrew Larson and Donnie Moats.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 14, 2023 at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Monday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
