Loretta Lusby Owen, 89, of Hot Springs, formerly of Pine Bluff, was a passionate health and wellness enthusiast who loved to travel and loved her family and dogs.
She passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Loretta was born June 25, 1935 in Pine Bluff, daughter of Don Lusby and Irene Waymack Lusby.
She was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1953. Loretta attended Arkansas State Teacher's College.
Mrs. Owen worked at the Arkansas State Unemployment office after college until she married and started a family. Loretta loved people, never met a stranger and was always kind and loving to animals. She was passionate about teaching exercise and taught classes for over 40 years in Pine Bluff at the YWCA, First Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church. She maintained an active lifestyle until the last two years and had developed a passion for ballroom dancing. Loretta loved the beach and anything to do with being on the water, she loved going to Florida and spending time on the lake going for boat rides.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Durward V. Owen.
Survivors include her son, Donald Owen of Houston, TX; two half-brothers, Ron Lusby of Hot Springs and Don Lusby, Jr. of Los Angeles, California; and three cousins, John Waymack, Susie Waymack and Herbie Waymack.
Visitation will start at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2025 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with the service following at 2:00 p.m., with Brother Dalton Adger officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 6501 S. Hazel Street, Pine Bluff, AR 71603.

I didn´t know Loretta well, but only knew her through her son Don. But I do know he was very committed to her care over the years, so she must have been a great Mother.
