Mary Loretta Plunk was born December 25, 1944 in Henderson, TN the daughter of the late Walter Harris and Ruth Elliff Harris.
She was united in marriage to Don E. Plunk on May 30, 1964. Mr. Plunk preceded her in death on February 19, 2005.
Loretta was a member of the Forty Forks Baptist Church. She had drove a school bus in Indiana for 15 years and in McNairy County for 23 years before retiring. She also served in Special Education and as a Alternative Teacher's Aide.
Loretta was a loving and compassionate mother, grandmother and great grandmother. At the age of 19 Loretta and Don loaded their suitcases and hopped a train to Gary, IN, a day after their nuptials, to build a life for themselves. There they created a family of life long friends. After retirement, they moved to the homestead in Tennessee to spend the rest of their days together with their kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She departed this life on February 24, 2024 in Henderson, Tennessee at the age of 79 Years, 1 Month, 30 Days.
She is survived by two sons, Rick Plunk and wife Gina of Kodak, TN, Marty Plunk and wife Deborah of Henderson, TN; sister, Janice Crans of Adamsville, TN; brother, Larry Harris and wife Maudie of Savannah, TN; five grandchildren: Gregory Plunk, Brittany Plunk, Alyssa Reynolds (Chris), Danielle Plunk (James), Kassy Fugatt (Devon); seven great grandchildren: Corinne Galloway, Hendrix Plunk, Michael White, Grayson Reynolds, Kaelum Galloway, Aubrey Reynolds, Braxton Plunk; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Loretta was preceded in death by a sister, Francis Fields; and a brother, Gerry Harris.
