Lori A. Bennett, 62, of Tunkhannock passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, David Bennett.
Born on February 20, 1963 in Wilkes-Barre, she is the daughter of the late William and Sandra (Montross) Faux.
Lori was a 1981 graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School. She furthered her education at both Empire Beauty School as well as Star Technical Institute. Lori found her true calling when she worked for Evans Falls Elementary as a teacher's aide for 20 years. This was just the start of her long commitment to schools, education and supporting disabled individuals. Some of her contributions were coaching majorettes, as well as coaching cheerleading for both Tunkhannock Area High School and Kings College. She continued her support with disabled individuals through her work with the ARC. Her commitment to education extended beyond the classroom as she dedicated her time as a member of the Tunkhannock Area School District School Board from 2007 until 2025, as well as her involvement on the LIU 18 board of directors. Lori concluded her career in supporting individuals in need with her work at the Burke Center. Her drive to support individuals in need was a driving force in her life.
She was deeply respected in her community, receiving numerous accolades for her contributions, including the School Directors Achievement Award in 2008, 2010, and 2018. She also earned recognition from the Luzerne Intermediate Unit Board of Directors and received the Certificate of Achievement from the Association for the Mentally Challenged Citizens (ARC) in both 2008 and 2009.
Lori found joy in the simple pleasures of life including riding horses, relaxing on the beach, but most importantly, being the best Oma to her grandchildren. They became the biggest joy in her life in recent years. She also took immense delight in watching their sporting events and other activities. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Additionally, she was a proud member of the Eatonville United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Matthew Bennett, Tommy Newell, Steven Bennett (Courtney), Erik Bennett (Cassie), Lucas Bennett; daughters, Ana Szymanski, Cloe Newell, LeAnn Sidorek and husband Corey, Tanisha Bennett, Jasmine Bennett, Kiara Bennett, Gretchen Bennett; brother, William Faux and wife Christine; sister, Joyelle Citsay; niece, Amanda Murray; grandchildren, Addison Milliron, Eligh Bennett, Landon Bennett, Blake Bennett, Everett Bennett, Penelope Bennett, Ayden Sidorek, Kynzi Newell, Colbie Newell, Janie Miller.
