Lori passed away September 12, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born in Erie and was the daughter of Donald and Lila Loper.

She is survived by her brother, Larry Loper and sister, Gail (Loper) Healy and their respective spouses, Kathleen and Steve.

Lori was a gregarious, fun-loving, hard-working, strong woman known for a sarcastic sense of humor that would have everyone laughing. She attended Edinboro State College where she obtained a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation. She lived in Fairview and worked in Erie her whole life. She was a skilled professional devoted to helping people in the surrounding Erie area return to the workforce and developed a large network of friends through her work.

Among the things that brought her the most joy were her six nieces and nephews whom she doted on and loved unconditionally. Hannah (Loper) and Corey Pentz, Rachel (Loper) and Colin Moses, Shane Loper and Elizabeth Valkanas, Mack Healy and Emily Fenves, Lucas and Bernadette Healy and Emma Healy and Joel Nightingale were the loves of her life, but she especially enjoyed Hannah and Corey’s two children, Benjamin and Annabelle as well as Mack and Emily’s two children, Carson and Otto. She also dearly loved her Godson, Tim Nageli. Lori was surrounded by a loyal group of steadfast friends. Tom, Debbie, Ed, JoAnn, Mary Jo, Gary, Daniel (Nightingale Rehab Ctr), Ron, Anthony & Adam (DaVita), Patty, Clif, David and Caroline were her chosen family and their devotion to her was of superhero proportions.

Lori had an incredible soft spot for animals (as one friend aptly noted, ‘she never met an animal she didn’t like’) and enjoyed feeding birds and caring for cats in need. Her cats, Amber and Alex, were loved beyond measure. She was an ardent Cleveland Browns fan and active in a Fantasy Football league with family. Lori loved holidays and took the opportunity to decorate, celebrate, and reach out to others. Halloween was her favorite and she would distribute candy without fail. She also enjoyed golfing, reading, horse racing, watching movies and television series, and completing crossword puzzles. Lori was passionate and willing to speak out for what she believed in whether it was human rights or democratic values. She was a force to be reckoned with at all times, and for that, she will be greatly missed. She leaves a legacy of laughter and joy.

Please feel welcome to attend a celebration of her life on November 2 at 3pm at the Fairview Presbyterian Church 4264 Avonia Rd, Fairview, PA 16415. A light supper in the church social hall will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, be kind to yourself, others and members of the animal kingdom! Please consider a donation to your local humane society or to the local Erie A.N.N.A Shelter in Lori’s honor.
