Lorraine (Morse) Valenta, 70, of Washington Township, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Born January 14, 1955 in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Willard Morse & Charlotte (Przytulski) Morse.
Lorraine was a 1973 graduate of Valley High School, attended nursing school; and was a graduate of the Master Gardener Program at Penn State University- New Kensington. In her younger years, Lorraine had a vibrant career with Giant Eagle as the Floral Department Manager. She also worked as a seamstress at a local uniform and supply shop focusing on custom tailoring, sewing on name patches, etc. for the United States Postal Service, firemen, emergency medical technicians, and for law enforcement uniforms.
Lorraine loved family time, visiting lighthouses, long charters on schooner sailboats, road trips, beach walks, gardening and composting, crocheting, knitting, and bird watching.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Nathan J. Macklin, who passed away on June 6, 2019; a sister, Barbara; and a brother, Jeffrey.
Lorraine is survived by her husband of 22 years, Terrance C. "Terry" Valenta; son, Scott Anthony (Erika) Macklin of Star Junction; daughter, Marcy Anne Fleeharty of Berkley Springs, WV; grandchildren, Avery Sage Fleeharty, Ian Joseph Lombardo, Brian Alan Macklin; sisters, Tina Warnock, Elaine Willison, Beverly Lyons, Arlene Evans; brother, Randy Morse; and nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, all services are private, and have been entrusted to the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Apollo. Interment with graveside services at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of memorial flowers or monetary donations, we have a small request. The request is simply for you to take an adventure. Go anywhere and see somewhere new. Feel the cool gentle breeze, listen to the birds chirping, listen to the waves crashing ashore, smell the mountain or coastal air, or lay under a stand of trees while watching the clouds drift by. So our request is simple; Enjoy Life... it is all around us!
