Lou John Encinias, 61, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at his home in Greeley, Colorado. He was born October 20, 1962 in Longmont, Colorado to Jose "Louie" and Mary (Benavidez) Encinias. He grew up in the Greeley, Longmont, Frederick areas and graduated from Frederick High School. He graduated from Nebraska Christian College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Lou married Denise Schmidt in 1987. They had one daughter, Larissa Kate Encinias. Lou and Denise later divorced. He married Jane Dukes on April 30, 1999 in Litchfield, Nebraska.
Lou worked as a pastor for many years in the rural Midwest and Hays, Kansas. For the past 14 years, he has been a Host Home Provider for Bobby and Rose. Lou loved the Denver Broncos and was a season ticket holder. He was passionate about reading, writing, playing Statis Pro Baseball with his friends, Tom Lewis and Lance Hardy, and spending time in the mountains.
He also enjoyed all Colorado sports teams and playing the American Indian Flute. His greatest passion of all was spending time with his grandson Graham John. Lou is survived by his wife, Jane Encinias of Greeley; his daughter, Larissa Groves of Greeley; his grandson, Graham Groves of Greeley; his ex-wife, Denise Hodges of Colorado Springs; and his siblings, Bernadette Chacon of Greeley and Jason Encinias of Greeley. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Life Celebration will be held at 2:00p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024 at Adamson Life Celebration Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassion International in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 W. 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
