Louis "Lou" Martin, age 88, of Gladstone passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 7, 2025 with his family by his side.

Lou was born November 1, 1937 in Chicago, the son of James and Hazel (Kulp) Martin. He graduated from Carl Schurz High School in Chicago in 1955. He attended Wabash College as an Undergraduate Student and continued his education at Purdue University receiving a Master of Science Degree. Lou served as the Director of the Delta County Mental Health (Pathways) for many years. He was an active member of the First Lutheran Church of Gladstone. Lou was devoted to his loving wife Beverly Ninnis who he married on June 20, 1959.

Lou is survived by his wife Beverly of Gladstone; children Ken (Carol) Martin of Algonquin, IL, Deborah (John) Holston of Gladstone, Elizabeth (Steve) Rockey of Tomball, TX, Katherine Paweletz of Half Moon Bay, CA, Kathy Enright (Charlie) of Negaunee, MI and Tammy Martin of Negaunee, MI; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Richard and Sylvia Ninnis; his own parents; his brothers Hugh Martin and James Martin Jr (Susan) and the family's treasured dog, Sammy Jo.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Elisabeth Daniels officiating. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall.

The Martin family would like to offer a special thank you to Sunny Days Home Care, OSF Hospice and Home Care, Bishop Noa, Landon Schultz and Pastor Elisabeth Daniels for their care and compassion while taking care of Lou.
