Lou McMurray, beloved brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 12, 2024 in Tuscon, AZ, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 16, 1940 in Fairmont to Kenneth McMurray and Josephine Hartlieb, Lou lived a life of family, loyalty, and service.
A Vietnam War Veteran, Lou served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bronze Star and retiring with the rank of Major after 22 years. Afterward, he graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Business Administration.
Lou had a deep love for birding and hiking, often spending his free time in the great outdoors. Known for his dry humor and quick wit, he could entertain friends and family of all ages. He will be remembered for demonstrating his care for his loved ones in acts of service great and small.
He is survived by his 3 sons Kenneth, Robert (Kathleen), and Mark (Jennifer)' his 5 grandchildren Rebecca (Christopher), Rachel (Curt), Peter (Christa), Alexander, and Makenzie, and his 4 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his good friends Les and Linda Clark and Sue Stockton. He was predeceased by his siblings Charlotte (McMurray) Covey, Emma Jo (McMurray) Connelly, Kenneth E. McMurray, Jr., John Thomas McMurray, Barbara (McMurray) Cook, Sarah (McMurray) Hanrahan. His sister Florence passed on February 1, 2025.
