David Bennett, of Houston, Texas, formerly of McKinney, Texas, passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 78.

David was born on October 24, 1946, in Big Spring, Texas to Lowell Dean Bennett and Mildred (Armstrong) Bennett. A proud graduate of McKinney High School, Class of 1964, David pursued higher education with determination and excellence, earning his bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas and later obtaining a master's degree from Texas A&M University.

On August 31, 1968, David married the love of his life, Cathy Jane Hicks, in their hometown of McKinney. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, lasting over five decades until her passing in 2022.

David proudly served as a Captain and Intelligence Officer in the United States Air Force. He served with honor during the Vietnam War, including the Fall of Saigon, exemplifying bravery, integrity, and a deep love of country.

David built a successful and respected career as a software engineer, working with companies including Chevron, Gulf Oil, American General, and Basic Insurance. His work ethic, intelligence, and integrity left a lasting impression on colleagues throughout the years until his well-earned retirement.

David will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, caring brother, and faithful friend. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

David is survived by his son, Barry Bennett and wife, Susan of College Station, Texas; grandchildren, Kylie Hammack and husband, Montana and Colton Bennett and wife, Brinley, all of College Station, Texas; great grandson, Ryder Hammack; brother, Michael Bennett of Forney, Texas and numerous other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Bennett and parents.
