Lowell E. Bittner, 93, of Wyomissing, passed away on May 2, 2025 at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He was predeceased by his wife, Lenore Bittner, on June 4, 2011.
Born in Weatherly on December 22, 1931, Lowell was the son of the late Walter and Edna (Schmidt) Bittner. He was a 1948 graduate of Weatherly High School and a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was employed as a Law Enforcement Supervisor with the Pennsylvania Game Commission for 32 years, where he made lifelong friendships.
Lowell was a man of nature and found peace in being outdoors. He was an avid hunter, loved to fish, and had a passion for riding motorcycles. Much of his life was spent traveling the world. He filled his spare time writing stories about his life experiences, even having a couple published in the Pennsylvania Game News.
In addition to his wife and parents, Lowell was preceded in death by his six siblings.
Lowell is survived by one daughter, Virginia (David) Schaeffer, Wernersville; three sons; Jeffrey Bittner, Doylestown, David (Barbara) Bittner, and Mark (Lori) Bittner, both of Mohrsville; and five grandchildren: Krystle (Noah) Weaver, Jaryd Bittner, Abigail and Elizabeth Schaeffer, and Jeremy Miller; two great-grandchildren, Jamison and Addison Weaver; and his companion, Mary Ferry.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m. in Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, 40 South Fourth St., Hamburg, PA, 19526. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Lowell will be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Anndale, PA in a private service at a later date.
