Lowell Cure Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home - Wichita Falls on Sep. 11, 2024.
Lowell "Wayne" Cure, 69, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on September 13, 2024, at Tenth and Broad Church of Christ with Ken Holsberry officiating.
A visitation will be held following the service at the church.
Wayne was born on January 24, 1955, to Lowell B. Cure and Mary Helen (Smith) Cure in Seymour, Texas.
He was a regular member of the Seymour Church of Christ, active in the local FFA/4H as the son of the Baylor County Agent and school teacher.
He grew up raising and showing cattle, running track, bringing laughter and making trouble. Wayne was proud of his hometown! He went to West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas on a track scholarship. His nickname was "Squatty" in college and he was known for his speed, even into his 50s! Prior to attending Texas Weslyan school of Nurse Anesthesia, he met the love of his life, Melodye Kim Alviola, working at Baylor Medical Center. Wayne was an incredible CRNA, providing anesthesia in general surgery and his real love- labor and delivery. He is remembered for the immense love, servant's heart and joy he brought to those around him in all seasons of his life- in Henderson, Wichita Falls and even in Brookdale Sikes Lake. Wayne had an incredible spirit that reflected the open, unconditional love of his Lord, Jesus Christ to those he knew.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell B. and Mary Helen. He is survived by the love of his life of 43 years, Kim Cure; his son, Cody Wayne Cure and wife Alicia Cure of Holliday, Texas; Melodye Desha Phillips and husband Andy Phillips of Tyler, Texas; and son Toby Jake Cure of Wichita Falls, Texas. He is survived by 5 grandchildren: Lowell Wayne Cure (11), Lillian Ann Cure (8), Andrew William Phillips (7), James Roger Wayne Phillips (5), and Kimberly Rose Phillips (3). Wayne is survived by his younger brother Larry Cure of Houston, Texas. He is survived by loving extended family and too many friends that he considered family in Henderson and throughout his life!
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
