Luann Kay (Loge) Greear, age 90, of
Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was peacefully called home to her Lord on January 14, 2026, at Alcester Care and Rehab Center, following a recent decline after a fall in December 2025.
Luann was born on December 31, 1935, in Sioux Falls. She graduated from Washington High School in 1953 and continued her education at Augustana College, where she earned her degree in teaching in May 1956.
On October 19, 1957, Luann was united in marriage to Thomas H. Greear at First Congregational Church in Sioux Falls. Their marriage was blessed with years of shared faith, family, and devotion to one another.
Faith was an important part of Luann's life and guided her relationships, work, and service to others. She was an active and devoted member of Hilltop United Methodist Church, where she found community, fellowship, and spiritual strength.
Luann lived a life of service and dedication. Her professional journey included working as an executive secretary at Fantle's in Sioux Falls; an elementary teacher with Sioux Falls Public Schools, a typist at Gurney's Seed and Feed in Yankton, South Dakota; and an office assistant at the Production Credit Association in Sioux Center, Iowa; Later, she worked on the National Campus of the Good Samaritan Society, where she was employed from 1990 until her retirement in 2001.
She was also active in many organizations that reflected her love of fellowship and service, including Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, of which she was a member since 1957, Daughters of Norway, and the Red Hat Society.
Luann was described by those who knew her as friendly, trustworthy, reliable, cooperative, and hardworking. She had a kind spirit, loved being around people, and made friends easily. Her hobbies included playing bridge, golfing, and collecting dolls and her home was filled with flowers-simple joys that brought her happiness and connection with others.
Luann resided at Trail Ridge until a fall in December 2025, after which she moved to Alcester Care and Rehab Center, where she was surrounded by compassionate care until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas H. Greear Jr, and her son, Thomas Greear III.
Luann is survived by her daughter, Janell (Scott) Mount, of Sioux Falls; grandsons Kyle Glazier and Ryan Glazier; step grandsons Daniel Mount (Ashley Puetz), Skyler Mount (Araceli Jimenez), step great granddaughter Alyse Lopez, step great grandson Shay Mount, honorary step great grandchildren. Jaxon, Kamdyn and Owen Puetz, who will cherish her memory and the many years of love they shared.
While her family mourns her earthly passing, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life and find comfort knowing Luann now rests in God's loving embrace.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm with family present to greet friends. Interment will take place at Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
