Lucia (Luci) Hutton was born on November 30, 1942, in
San Antonio, Texas. She passed into her loving Savior's arms on January 4, 2026. Luci was born in
San Antonio, Texas, to Gaspar and Rafaela Cruz. She attended schools in San Antonio and graduated from Burbank High School. After years of working with the USAF Security Service, she enrolled at the University of Texas San Antonio in her early forties. She strongly believed in the importance of education and was proud to graduate with a B.B.A. in Accounting. Her distinguished career as a CPA included the Internal Revenue Service, the FDIC, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the US Attorney's Office. She concluded her career as a compliance auditor with the US Department of Transportation, where she proudly retired after 31 years of federal service. In addition to her children, Luci's grandchildren were her greatest gifts. She constantly thanked God for them and prayed for His guidance, protection, and blessings over their lives. She instilled in her grandchildren the importance of hard work and perseverance. She always said, "Nothing worthwhile is ever easy." Her life truly embodied this quote, and her devotion and selflessness toward her family will always be remembered. After retirement, Luci learned how to make jewelry. She collected beads, designed necklaces, assembled earrings, and found great joy in creating and giving her beautiful pieces to friends and loved ones. In addition to jewelry making, she spent time dining out, dancing, singing karaoke, and thrifting with friends. She frequented several thrift stores and even learned the times when trucks were scheduled to deliver new inventory. She was the first to shop for new items and anticipated the purchase of her next designer jacket or beautiful accessory piece. She wore her stylish outfits for dinner, to meet church friends, or to sing at karaoke events. Luci loved to karaoke! She and her dear friend Don would sing at the American Legion, VFW, and various other places around town. She even purchased a karaoke machine and hosted karaoke nights at her home.
She enjoyed the entertainment and had a blast meeting new people and making new friends. Luci will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Until we meet her again, her spirited personality and unforgettable laughter will live forever in our hearts.Luci is preceded in death by her parents, Gaspar and Rafaela Cruz; her beloved husband, Billy Joe Hutton; her former husband, Reynolds Combs; her brother, Joe Cruz; and her sister, Herminia (Minnie) Glasscock. She is survived by her devoted friend, Don Girard; sister, Amelia (Emily) Moore; daughter, Meredith Combs (Ruben Leal); son, Greg Combs (Amanda); and grandchildren, Blake and Katherine Combs, and Tristan Leal. Luci loved pale pink and wished to include this color in her ceremony, unknowingly realizing that pale pink symbolizes love, grace, and admiration. To commemorate her life, guests are welcome to incorporate a touch of pale pink into their attire, though traditional mourning wear is also welcome. For personal acknowledgement, please sign the online guestbook at www.missionparks.com in the Tributes section
