This is the History of Luis Felipe Crespo-Moyeno González. As we know it.
Referred to by many as either Don Felo or Felipe.
Luis Felipe Crespo was most affectionately known by as Felo.
Luis' Origin story is a beautiful blend of three races in one.
The Spaniards from the Canary Islands, Taino Indian, and African
Felipe was the 3rd in line of 4 boys; whose story begins in a rural part of Puerto Rico; known as Sabana Hoyos Arecibo. His history traces back through his great grandparents, grandparents and parents.
Felipe's great grandparents / his mother's grandparents were:
Juan Colon and Petra Álvarez. This is where some of his blood line gets their blonde hair, blue eyes, and light complexion from.
Felipe's grandparents / his mother's parents were: Jose Moyeno, and Generosa Colon. Felipe's grandmother were of African and Taino Indian descent. This is where some of his blood line gets their rich dark and exotic complexion comes from.
Felo's grandparents / his father's parents were:
Juan Crespo and Tomasa Gonzales.
Felo's parents were Julio Crespo and Carmen Celia Moyeno.
Felo/Felipe's dad had his right leg amputated at a young age and in spite of not having a leg, he farmed the land; worked cutting sugarcane; built his own house; took care of farm animals, and opened his barber shop on weekends.
Felo's mother Carmen Celia (Mita) worked picking coffee beans; and around the house, fetched water a mile away, and did laundry by hand down by the river.
Both Mita and Julio sang folklore songs and often hosted house gigs during the holidays. Just for fun, without any ask in return.
They separated when Felo was in his teens and his youngest brother (Carmelo) was but 4 years of age. Carmen Celia (Mita) sold a cow in order to buy plane tickets for herself, and her youngest, to move to the Bronx, N.Y. in 1961.
She worked in sweat shops in lower Manhattan until one by one she was able to send airfare to bring Felo and his older brothers Julio and Miguel Crespo to the states.
They all lived in a one bedroom apartment on Webster Ave in The Bronx. From there he met his current wife of 52+ years, Mirtelina Flores Crespo. Luis Felipe Crespo and Mirtelina Flores Crespo, raised 3 girls and 1 boy. Maribel Torres, Carmen Marie Torres, Luis Felipe Crespo Jr, and Claudia Angelica Millan.
Felo is survived by 3 siblings Julio (Yuyo) Crespo Jr, Carmelo Crespo, and Sori Crespo, Wilson Crespo and Tita Crespo.

We are Proud to say he was our Father/Brother/Husband/leader and we know he will continue to be our Guardian.
May the mighty Warrior that goes by Luis Felipe Crespo Rest In Peace.
Special Thanks to Carmelo Crespo who has been our greatest source for the historical data.
