Luke Ethan Evans, 31, of Denver, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 30.
He was born in Grand Junction, CO on December 19, 1991, and at the age of 2 came to the front range and lived the remainder of his life in the Arvada, Westminster, and Denver areas. He attended Maranatha Christian Center and graduated from Pomona High School in 2010. During his high school years, he found music, his true passion, and continued playing for the rest of his life. He was multi-talented, playing drums, keyboard, and both acoustic and electric guitar. He expressed this by playing in and contributing to a broad swath of local Denver acts including but not limited to The Uglies, Astral Planes, Colors, and his baby, Lost Shapes.
With that said, Luke was a multifaceted individual and his interests and passions seemed nearly boundless. He was a talented gamer, adored film, and was an absolute force as a coworker, collaborator, and an award-winning craft cocktail creator. Not to mention the numerous random talents we all had the pleasure of enjoying.
Dry details cannot begin to describe the man that Luke was. He was a beautiful, loving, adventurous, intelligent, loyal, supportive, creative, and exciting human being. He deeply loved his friends and accepted everyone for who they were, no matter their background. This was evident in the numerous relationships Luke kindled behind the counter as he served up drinks and smiles. He truly made all feel welcome.
Luke was lucky enough to have found something that most people search for all of their lives, his best friend and the love of his life, his wife Charly.
He has left a deep void in not only the Denver hospitality, film, and music scenes but also in the hearts of all who knew him.
Luke is survived by his wife Charly Kibbey Evans and her family, his mother Brenda Evans, his father Lew (Tilda) Evans, his beloved brother Joshua Evans, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and hundreds of friends, all of whom loved him and cared deeply about him. His work and creative energy will live on to inspire and inform many bartenders, musicians, film nerds, and gamers for years to come.
Private services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
Public memorials/fundraisers will be held on Monday Oct. 9, 9:00 p.m. at Matchbox, Tuesday Oct. 17 from 6-9 p.m. (a ticketed fundraiser) at Glo Noodle house, and Sunday Oct. 22 at 8:00 p.m. at The Marigold in Denver.
