Life of Luther "Sonny" Thomas
On Saturday, July 8, 2023 Luther Thomas was called from labor to rest and is now reunited with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and all his loved ones who went before him. Luther, also known as Sonny, passed away peacefully at home with his family and with the assistance of Ascend Hospice Care
Sonny was born on October 23, 1945 in Dawson, Georgia, to the late Dolly Mae Sampson and Charles Thomas, Sr. He attended Carver High School in Dawson, Georgia.
Sonny began his working career at different clothing factories, in the Easton area, Mack Printing and later worked numerous part-time jobs. Craft Rugs, cleaning offices, and started a lawn service business. In 1969 he began his forever career at Victor Balata in Wilson Borough, where he retired in January 2014 after forty-five years of service.
Sonny leaves to cherish his memory two sons; Mark Benton and Kevin Benton of Easton; two grandchildren: Nateesa Benton and Elijah Benton ; one great-grandchild: Kai; three sisters: Mary Simmons and Bettye Hayes both of Cleveland, Ohio; and one Bennie Jones of Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania; five brothers: Earl Sampson Lower Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Willie Sampson, Benjamin Sampson, Roosevelt Sampson and David Sampson all of Easton; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandson Kevin Benton, Jr., sisters, May Katherine Sampson, Annie Doris Sampson, and brother Charles Thomas, Jr.
