Of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family in her home after a courageous battle with ALS. She was 59.
Born on January 1, 1966, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, Luz was the daughter of the late Jovino Arevalo and Telma "Chita" Garcia. She immigrated to the United States in 1986 as a young woman and spent the last 35 years of her life in Waltham, where she built a beautiful life surrounded by family and friends.
Most who knew her, knew her as Lucy. She worked for many years at Standard Thompson and Nova Biomedical, as well as operating her own home cleaning business. Despite her busy professional life, Lucy's true passion was caring for her family. She loved to cook and cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, particularly her beloved grandchildren.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 35 years, Cesar Pinto; her loving children, Julio Arevalo and his wife Jennifer of Waltham, and Daniela Pinto of Waltham; and her cherished grandchildren, Mia and Ava. Lucy is also survived by her dear siblings, Luis of Waltham, Edita, Ema, and Luis Alejandro, all of Guatemala; as well as by her late sisters, Marina and Priscilla.
Those wishing to pay their respects to Lucy and her family are invited to visit the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, on Friday, March 7th, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. For those unable to attend, a guestbook will be available for signing at www.BrascoFuneralhome.com. Parking attendants will be on duty.
Family and friends are also welcome to gather to celebrate Lucy's life at a Funeral Service in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, on Saturday, March 8th, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
