With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Lydia Garrison, who departed this life peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the age of 88 in Kyle, Texas.
Lydia was born on May 11, 1937 in San Marcos, Texas to Otila Garza Guerrero and Jose Gonzales. She graduated from San Marcos High School in 1955. She went on to work in the finance industry, dedicating 20 years in the finance business where she managed and supervised branches through out the state of Texas. She later transitioned into her 15 year carrier at Gary Job Corp.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Lydia led a life filled with generosity and passion. She was a devout Catholic and she was a Guadalupana for many years serving her church, and community. Gardening also held a special place in Lydia's heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Charles Garrison, and her granddaughter Jacqueline Martinez. Lydia was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her love, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family created a legacy that spans five generations-a legacy rooted in compassion, resilience, and faith.
Lydia is survived by her daughters, Genena Garrison of Kyle, TX and Ariana Garrison Gonzales (Santos) of San Marcos, her stepsons, Dennis Garrison of London, United Kingdom and Bryan Garrison of San Antonio, TX. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jessica Martinez, Jeremy Gonzales (Victoria), and Christian Zamora. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Duane Martinez (Alexis), Daniela Martinez, Jade Gonzales, Allyson Gonzales, and Olivia Gonzales, and a loving great-great-grandmother to Ezekiel and Jacqueline Martinez. Lydia is also survived by her sisters, Eva Guerrero Rodriguez and Zulema Guerrero Cuevas, both of San Marcos, TX, and her brother, Louis Gonzales (Mary Lou) of San Antonio, TX, along with many nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart.
Lydia was love in its purest form-gentle, steadfast, and full of grace. She had a quiet strength and a heart that welcomed everyone. Lydia found deep joy in giving back to others, whether through her faithful service to her church or her commitment to the community. She inspired those around her to give, serve, and live with purpose. Her kindness, humility, and enduring presence were a gift to all who knew her. Lydia's legacy of wisdom, compassion, and grace will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those she touched. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Lydia, please visit our Tree Store.
