Lyle Merrill Haven, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 18, 2026, in Orangevale, California with family at his side.
Lyle Haven was born on November 12, 1939, in Ogden, Utah; he was the first child born to Merrill and Leone Haven and was raised with his younger siblings, Bruce and Elaine. As a graduate of Weber High School in 1957, he was always very industrious and hard-working.
In 1959, Lyle served a mission in the Southern California Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His mission area covered three states, California, Western Arizona, and Southern Nevada. While serving, he was lucky to have met a young lady, Sara Lee Gadd. Four weeks after returning home from his mission in 1961, he returned to Long Beach, California and asked for Sara Lee to marry him. They were married on May 19, 1962, in the Los Angeles Temple. Together they raised five children, LeLaine, Stuart, Lincoln, Stacy, and Lauren. in various communities in Utah, Nevada, and California. They finally settled in Newark, California.
Sara Lee passed away in 1995 after fighting a long illness that was diagnosed in 1976.
Lyle met Susan Rezak in 1996 and found her to be a kindred spirit. They married in September of 1996 and shared 28 years together, managing Haven Tax Solutions in Hayward and traveling extensively.
Lyle volunteered in scouting, worked at the Sparks Heritage Museum, and served in various callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including bishoprics and Employment Specialist.
He was a proud grandparent to 17 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Lyle is survived by his children, LeLaine Haven, Stuart (Anne) Haven, Lincoln (Denise) Haven, Stacy (Kim) Haven, Lauren (Cheyenne) Haven; stepchildren, Douglas (Paulette) Cooper and Roselyn (Paul) Perazzo; and their extended families.
