Lynn Wofford Edwards, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC, just days before her 71st birthday. Born on February 10, 1954, in Marietta, GA, Lynn was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life.
Lynn dedicated 28 years of her professional life to nurturing young minds as an Elementary School Teacher, where she touched the lives of countless students with her warmth and dedication. Her passion for education and her gentle spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
In 1988, Lynn and her family moved from Greenwood, SC, to
Hendersonville, NC, where they became active members of the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and providing her with comfort and strength.
Beyond her teaching career, Lynn found joy in simple pleasures. She loved spending time with her family and friends, always putting others first. Some of her happiest moments were spent at her beloved beach house, where the ocean's embrace brought her peace. She had a knack for decorating and filled her home with beauty and warmth. Her hands were rarely still, as she enjoyed crocheting and sewing, and she could often be found engrossed in a good book.
Lynn was preceded in death by her devoted parents, John B. Wofford and Sue Coffia Wofford. She is survived by her beloved husband, C. Barry Edwards, and her two daughters, Deborah Edwards Neal and her husband Jeremy of Greer, SC, and Kathryn Edwards Conley and her husband David of Fletcher, NC. Lynn leaves behind five treasured grandchildren: Anna Grace Neal, Mason Edward Conley, Millie Elizabeth Neal, Connor David Conley, and Jacob William Conley, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
She is also survived by her siblings: two sisters, Fran Wofford McFall and her husband Russell of Columbia, SC, and Kay Wofford Phillips of Clinton, SC; and one brother, John William Wofford and his wife Leslie of Greenville, SC.
A memorial service to honor Lynn's life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of
Hendersonville, NC. Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM, also at the church.
