Charlton: Lynn F. (Johnson) Flotté, 75, of the Overlook Community, Charlton, passed away
peacefully in her home on Thursday, June 20th, after an illness. She leaves her husband of 24 years, V. Paul Flotté; her two brothers, David A. Johnson and his wife Tina of Massillon, OH and William N. Johnson and his wife Laura of Harvard; her four nieces and nephews, Bill Johnson, Heather Baker, Holly Bonds and Christie Highman; and her five great grandnieces and grandnephews. She was born in Hackensack, NJ, the daughter of the late William F. and Grace Lorraine (Clements) Johnson. Lynn grew up in Ridgewood, NJ. and received her bachelors degree from Michigan State University.
After many years living and working in Waterbury, CT as an insurance broker, Lynn moved with her husband Paul to The Overlook Community in Charlton MA. Lynn blossomed to her full self there, becoming a very active and compassionate leader and participant within the community. She was elected to the Resident Council and joined numerous resident committees - everything from solving parking issues to fundraising for staff appreciation bonuses! She was also the official representative from The Overlook to the Massachusetts Life Care Residents' Association.
Lynn discovered a passion and incredible talent for painting landscapes through an Overlook art group. Add to that a gardening group, and two choruses! She worked closely with The Overlook's hospice minister to create and co-lead a spiritual circle for the independent living community. She was the founder of A Joyful Noise, the chorus that sings to patients near the end of their lives. Lynn would play just about any game that was offered at The Outlook and particularly looked forward to friendly competitive events and Fun at Five. Whenever she could, Lynn enjoyed walking with her furry friends and their owners.
Above all she loved her family. This was evidenced by a glance at the gallery of pictures on her door and her phone! She always there wherever family gathered, whether that was New Jersey, Massachusetts, Ohio, Virginia Beach, or an international destination. A sibling trip to Italy with her brothers in 2016 was undoubtedly a highlight of her life. Lynn touched her family and friends through her ability to listen attentively, share thought-provoking insights, laugh often, and love deeply.
A memorial service for Lynn will be held at The Overlook at a later date. There are no calling hours.
Keeping in line with Lynn's devotion to supporting others, donations may be made to the Overlook Staff Appreciation Fund, 88 Masonic Home Rd., Charlton, MA 01507.
