Lynn Purdy

Lynn was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, January 7, 1947 and died October 23, 2024 in Palmer, Alaska. Someone realized she needed a loving home so Johnny Lynn (well known Alaska bush pilot, d. 1966) flew her in a shoebox to Anne Purdy of Chicken, Alaska when it was -70 F. A home was found! An eyedropper was used to feed her while she laid on the oven door. Her home was a yellow two-story frame house in Chicken until health problems caused her to move to Palmer. Lynn grew up loving fishing for Grayling, shooting her.22, rock hunting and berry picking, rarely housework!
Her life centered around our mother, Anne Purdy, AKA "Tisha" (d. 1987); dad, Fred Purdy (d. 1965); her younger sister and numerous pets, mostly dogs. At sixteen Lynn got her driver's license and began a lifelong career of being mom's chauffeur. Lucky for her, Lynn's younger sister got driving lessons, nailing the '3-on-the-column' in a 1961 Ford van jerking up and down Chicken Airstrip. Since Lynn was 4'11" large blocks were bolted to brake, clutch, and gas pedals making learning extra challenging for her much taller sister! Remarkable patience from Lynn!
Scores of people enjoyed Lynn's knitted creations when she learned the craft at seventeen.
Lynn is survived by her sister, Barbara (Mike Redmon), nephew John G. Boles (Margo) and son, Johnny; nieces, Catherine G Boles and Jenny Kearns (Christ), and daughter Shiloh; niece, Anevay Boles, cousins, Rose Purdy and Ken Purdy (Kim).
