Lynn Schulze Obituary

Lynn Marie Schulze, 71, of College Station, Texas, passed away on November 12, 2025, surrounded by family who loved her deeply.

She was born on April 24, 1954, in Winona, Minnesota, to Arlene and Earl Holst. She grew up in Winona and graduated from Winona High School in 1972. From an early age, Lynn was known for her generous heart, nurturing spirit, and quick wit.

After spending a little time in Arizona, Lynn eventually moved to College Station, Texas, which became her home for the rest of her life. It was there that she met the love of her life, Robert ("Bob") Schulze. Lynn and Bob were married for 36 years and built a life together centered on family, selflessness, and quiet acts of love and service.

In her younger years, Lynn loved competitive horse riding and carried that same determination and grit into every chapter of her life. Lynn spent 35+ years working at the Texas A&M Research Foundation Ocean Drilling Program, where she supported important research efforts and formed deep, lasting friendships. She was known for her reliability, her strong work ethic, and the way she looked out for her colleagues. She traveled the world often for her work but was always happy to return home to her family after each trip.

Of all her accomplishments, she was proudest of her children and the lives they have built. Generous, nurturing, and funny, Lynn deeply loved her family and was devoted to seeing her children thrive. She spent countless weekends driving Chris and Shannon to Houston for soccer games, always willing to sacrifice her own time so they could be happy and successful in their own endeavors. For many years, Lynn looked ahead to the day she would be a grandmother. Though dementia affected her final years, the news of each grandchild brought her real joy, and her love for Bryce, Ella, and Grace was deeply felt within the family.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Bob Schulze; her son, Chris Schulze, and his wife Loren; her daughter, Shannon Coles, and her husband Garrett; and her three grandchildren, Bryce Schulze, Ella Schulze, and Grace Coles. She is also survived by her siblings, Scott Holst, Cheryl Belter, Susan Nordby, and Tom Holst. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlene and Earl Holst.

A celebration of Lynn's life will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at Hillier Funeral Homes, 4080 Hwy 6, College Station, TX 77845, with a small reception to follow. All who knew and loved her are welcome.

In keeping with her selfless nature, Lynn's brain was donated for Alzheimer's research. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in her memory.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives were made better by her presence.
