M. "Isabelle" (Leman) MacLeod, 94, passed away peacefully on Friday September 26th, surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1931 on the 4th of July in Rockport, MA, Isabelle was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mabel (Manson) Leman. She was the devoted wife of Edward J. MacLeod for 60 wonderful years and together they built a life full of love, family, and adventure.
After graduating from Rockport High School in 1949, Isabelle worked for a local bank before dedicating herself full-time to raising her family. She will be remembered as a woman of warmth, energy, and endless devotion.
Isabelle had many passions; gardening, playing cards, and solving Sudoku puzzles among them. She and Ed shared a love of travel, whether it was autumn trips to Maine, winters in Florida, Caribbean cruises with their "couples club," or adventures in Europe and Canada. At home, Isabelle was happiest hosting family and friends. She will be fondly remembered for her legendary 4th of July birthday parties, her tradition of serving pie for breakfast on holiday mornings, and her gift for making everyone feel welcome. Outgoing and full of life, she was a gracious host, a social butterfly, and never afraid to be the center of attention. Above all, Isabelle was a devoted wife, mother, nana, and great-nana whose love and laughter shaped the lives of those around her.
She will be deeply missed, and her family will continue to honor her memory by living with the same love, generosity, and joy that she shared with all who knew her.
A special thanks to Brian Feldman and Jill Watts for their weekly visits.
Isabelle is survived by her children; Scott MacLeod and his wife Maria of Beverly; Sharon McBride and her husband Howard of Danvers; and Alison Howe of Windham, NH, wife of the late Frank Howe. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and great-grandmother of three, all of whom brought her immense joy. Grandchildren; Jessica L. Handley and her Husband Ross Handley, Erin K. Lewis and her husband Robert Lewis, Patrick E. McBride, Caitlin Dooley and her husband Glenn Dooley, Andrea M. MacLeod, Emily C. Howe and her fiancé Lawson Driskill, and Stephanie A. MacLeod. Great-grandchildren; Margaret (Maggie) M. Lewis, Jack E. Lewis, and Connor P. Lewis.
She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Leman; sister-in-law, Kathleen Poole; and brother-in-law, Dewey Poole.
Isabelle's funeral service will be celebrated at Living Faith United Methodist Church, 2 Dane St, Beverly, on Friday October 3rd, at 12:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
