Caroline Keaveny Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home - Wethersfield on Dec. 1, 2025.
Caroline Hobbs Keaveny, 91, of Wethersfield, CT, peacefully passed away on November 29, 2025. She was born to Florence and Harold Hobbs of Rockport, Massachusetts on May 12, 1934, and later graduated from Rockport High School and Chamberlain School of Design. While studying in Boston, she met the love of her life Thomas Keaveny of Lynn, Massachusetts. They married in 1956 and relocated to Hollywood, California – beginning a lifetime of adventure together. They later settled permanently in Wethersfield, where they lovingly raised their three children. Caroline and Tom shared 43 years of marriage until his passing.
Caroline had a gift for lighting up every room she entered. Her radiant smile, upbeat spirit, and outgoing personality made her unforgettable. She cherished the beach, traveling, painting, baking pies, and hosting family gatherings – passions she joyfully passed to her children and grandchildren. She involved herself in school, church, theatre, and community events and worked for more than twenty years as a dedicated and well-loved real estate agent.
Family was the heart of Caroline's world. She delighted in attending school plays, concerts, athletic events, and graduations and took pride in maintaining strong bonds across her extended family. For over 50 years, she hosted Christmas in Connecticut, always making room as her family grew. Her home in Charlestown, Rhode Island, was a beloved retreat – an open invitation where many cherished family memories were created.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Sharon (Bob) Molloy of Marco Island, Florida, Thomas Keaveny of Wethersfield, and Patrick (Lena) Keaveny of Wethersfield. She leaves behind five adored grandchildren, Cara (Matthew) Wraight, Brendan (Julie) Molloy, Thomas Keaveny, Abigail Keaveny, and Raissa Keaveny, and one great-grandchild, Shay Molloy, who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her siblings Cynthia Hobbs, George (Claire) Hobbs, John Keaveny, and Richard Keaveny. Caroline was predeceased by Loretta (Howard) Evans, Francis (John) Flynn, Virginia Keaveny, Joyce Keaveny, Mark McGourty, and Rose Keaveny. She took great pride in being "Aunt Caroline" to twenty nephews and one niece.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to The Atrium of Rocky Hill, Arden Court at Avon, and Trinity Hospice for their compassionate care.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. I worked for many years with Caroline. When I think of her, her upbeat personality and smile comes to mind. She was always fun to be around. She was also a top-notch realtor, who went above and beyond for each and every client. She was so proud of her family and was always sharing stories and updates on what her children and grandchildren were up to. All in all, Caroline was a great lady! Sending my condolences to her family and hoping the wonderful memories will carry you through this tough time.

I first met Caroline when I was about fifteen years old, around the time my oldest brother, Tom-who eventually became her husband-began dating her. I knew little about Cape Ann or her hometown of Rockport, Massachusetts, but soon enough I was meeting Caroline´s warm, welcoming family. They made their home feel like my second home, and it quickly became clear where Caroline´s generosity came from. I was also an usher at their wedding in 1956.

They later moved to Los Angeles, and by 1958 I went out to visit. I´m now 85, and thinking back...can you imagine? Here they were-Tom and Caroline-recently married, pregnant, and working full-time. Tom was teaching, and Caroline was working as a buyer for a major department store. And there I was, a young man about to turn eighteen, spending two months on their living-room couch and having the time of my life. What kindness.

Eventually, I wound up living in Michigan and they moved to Connecticut, but we continued to visit and write. In time, with age, illness, and then Tom´s passing, it became just phone calls between Caroline and me. But those calls were very special. I still remember them with love.
