Mack Donald Owens, Jr, 96, of Brandon, Mississippi passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025. Born on October 7, 1929, in Jackson, Mississippi, Mack led a life defined by quiet strength, hard work and steadfast faith.
A proud graduate of Wesson High School, Mack answered the call to serve his country. He achieved the rank of Private First Class in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama and in Japan during the Korean War. He later attended Jackson Commercial College and for more than 36 years served in the legal field as a Land Abstractor.
On October 12, 1951, Mack married the love of his life, Ms. Ortis Gordon, at the Van Winkle Baptist Parsonage in Jackson, MS. They were active, longtime members of Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl, MS, loved to travel and visit Army friends. In addition, Mack was an avid coin collector and a member of Lofton’s Thursday Night Coin Club in Brandon, MS. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons he could be found watching his favorite football teams; Mississippi State Bulldogs, LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ortis Gordon Owens, his parents, Mack and Ollie Owens, Sr., a brother and two sisters. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and their families.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Mack’s Caregivers, Heart of Hospice and Chateau Pines Assisted Living Home for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2025 beginning at 1:00pm with a service at 2:00pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Cemetery in Pearl, MS.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial gifts to Park Place Baptist Church, 5701 Highway 80E, Pearl, MS 39208 or to the American Cancer Society.
