KATENKAMP, Madonna Katherine (Donna, DK, Aunt Donna) Age 68
Passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 11, 2022.
Beloved Daughter of Charlene M. Katenkamp and the late Donald E. Katenkamp (Jan).
Loving Sister of Carolyn Goldrainer, Mark (Carol) Katenkamp, Tom (Susan) Katenkamp, Ann (Ed) Ohmer, Erik (Tasha) Katenkamp. Loving Aunt of Tina, Lisa, Holly, Rusty, Diedra, Stephen, Ben, Jon, Joy, Andrea, Alyson, Trevor, Shane, Zachary, Cheyenne, Seth, Ella & Alex. Many great nieces and nephews, all of whom brought her so much joy.
Donna began her career as a Nurse working at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. At that time, Donna had the pleasure of being one of a few Nurses working at the Cincinnati Zoo with infant primates which she enjoyed so very much. She then moved to Redondo Beach, California where she worked at Children's Hospital, NICU. She returned to Cincinnati and worked at The Christ Hospital with cancer patients. After a period of time Donna transferred to the Cardiac Cath Lab and eventually moved to Denver, Colorado working in Cath Labs in multiple hospitals. She loved living in the mountains and was completely at peace by the sea and in the water.
Donna began to work Internationally as a Clinical Specialist working with new and groundbreaking medical devices for angioplasty of the heart. Donna traveled all over the world to many hospitals and clinics and worked hand in hand with heart Physicians worldwide. She lived in Belgium for many years and was fluent in French. Donna worked and traveled on every single Continent with the exception of Antarctica.
Another love and great passion was baking and cooking. She enjoyed watching cooking shows and trying new recipes. She was so kind making sure everyone had what they needed. She cared for family and friends alike and always hand delivered meals.
Donna shared an amazing, loving friendship with Ron & David Houck-Nebel whom she traveled with extensively. They were a chosen family pod and extremely close. Ron & David were the loves of her life and she always referred to them as her boyfriends.
One of the truest passions of Donna's was caring for kittens and cats. From bottle feeding newborn kittens all the way through to the end of their days she Mothered many a fur child. She really never met an animal she did not fall in love with and vice versa. Her heart was truly golden.
Our hearts are broken and we will miss her terribly. Especially at Christmastime which she loved so much. Donna was a woman of deep reflection and prayer. A hearty laugh and a quick witted sense of humor with a twinkle in her eye. She passed on to the heavens with a smile on her face and we will never ever forget her.
If you are so inclined, we know that Donna would love any donation made in her name to:
