Mrs. Mae Rothermel Fuerneisen, 105, of Newnan, formerly of Westville, New Jersey. Went to join her husband in the Kingdom of Heaven on Thursday evening, November 7th, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born September 16th, 1919, in Milton, Pennsylvania, to her parents, Lester and Verna Rothermel. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 siblings, husband, Frank Harry Fuerneisen; son, Richard (Rick) Paul Fuerneisen; 2 daughters in laws, Cathy Copes Fuerneisen and Carol Hess Fuerneisen; 1 grandson, 1 granddaughter-in-law, and 1 great-granddaughter.
Mae was raised in Milton, PA, and married the love of her life in 1943 in Camden, NJ. She worked in a factory while her husband was in the military and enjoyed motorcycles and thrill-seeking. She then spent her life as a homemaker with the birth of her first son in 1947. Her love for her family was unparalleled. She spent her time, bowling, showing French bulldogs, raising her 2 children and assisting with her grandchildren, and tinkering with any appliances she could get her hands on. She spent her summers on the Jersey Shore in Wildwood, cooking the crabs she taught the family to catch. She was a follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and a faithful member of the Methodist church. She spent her last 6 years in Newnan, GA, under the care of her grandchild, Tricia Ohliger, and her husband, Tom. Where she attended Moreland United Methodist and Mt. Gilead Methodist Church.
The family will have a private celebration of life in the spring of 2025, to reunite her and her husband, Frank's ashes.
Condolences can be expressed online at www.mckoon.com
Survivors include her eldest son, Frank Paul Fuerneisen of Newnan; sister-in-law Miriam Rothermel; 9 grandchildren and their spouses; 28 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
