Beautiful & Everlasting Memories
We walked through the darkest valley, Thursday, September 14, 2023, when Our Lord and Savior called our Angel, MaKayla Gabriel Davis, to eternal rest. Forever young, MaKayla was a bright and shining star who was born July 15, 2003, in Stanly County North Carolina. She was the daughter of Kia Davis West and Gabriel Davis. MaKayla had a radiant smile that endeared all she met. Precious memories will always live in our hearts. We are comforted in knowing that she rests in God's Unchanging Hands.
Makayla was educated in the Stanly County public schools and was a 2021 graduate of South Stanly High School, Norwood, North Carolina. She was enrolled at Stanly Community College, Albemarle where she was pursuing a Cyber Crime degree. As someone who worked in mental health, she was an advocate for those who were being treated unfairly or being bullied.
MaKayla was a member of Bennettsville AME Zion Church, Norwood. She was a former member of the Agnes Jewels Gleaners Branch #66, where she served as Gleanor Matron.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her son, Ayden, who was the 'apple of her eye'. Family was very important to MaKayla; family celebrations and holidays were a source of enjoyment to see everyone come together. MaKayla also enjoyed watching reality television and scrolling through social media in her free time. She loved to cook for her family, that was her love language. Coloring and drawing pictures was a talent that MaKayla developed to bring her peace. She spent many hours coloring and designing beautiful pictures.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers: Ronae Davis and Wiley Steve Watkins; and great grandmothers: Rebecca Davis and Mable Watkins.
Gladdened are the hearts that loved MaKayla so dearly; and thankful for the years, although too short, we shared her life. She will be forever be remembered by her son, Ayden Davis; mother, Kia (Kenneth) West; father, Gabriel Davis Sr.; sisters, McKenzie Davis and Forlessia Miller; brothers: Micah Davis, Gabriel Davis Jr., Kenny Miller and Myshia Miller; maternal grandmother, Linda Kelly; paternal grandparents: Brunella Davis and Richard Murray Sr.; aunts: Kimbaly Kelly, Stephanie Kelly, Kandis Kelly, Tremice Robinson, Amanda Davis, Nicki Daniels and Jerika Dumas; uncles: Richard (Marley) Murray Jr., Douglas West and Marquez (Bianca) Scarborough; special cousin, Shayna Robinson; best friends: Daleeka Wall, Janel Smith, Zaliyah Holt and Alliyah Shabazz; a host of other relatives and friends.
"Surely goodness and love will follow MaKayla, and she will dwell in the house of Our Lord forever."
Good night sweet Angel, we will see you in the morning.
