Malakai Siuda, age 17, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023. He was born on Feb. 20, 2006, to Anthony and Amber Siuda in Michigan City.
Malakai is survived by his loving parents; brother, Destin Newlon; grandparents, Ricky Scheerer, Doriann and Dave Wiegand, Steven Siuda, and Evonne and Edwin Hernandez; great-grandparents, Priscilla and George Tamlin and Judith Heridia; and several adoring aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in passing by his grandmother, Allison Scheerer; and great-grandfathers, Phil Favia and Richard Heridia.
Malakai was a senior at Michigan City High School. He was a junior coach for the Michigan City Piranha Swim Team as well as a member of the high school swim team and track and field. He was very involved in multiple high school programs and clubs including Teen Court, Helping Hands, Chess Club and German Club.
Malakai joined the National Guard and was participating in monthly training and was planning on majoring in finance in college. He was an avid paintballer and roller coaster enthusiast and loved to bake, especially with his grandma, and was in the AK Smith Culinary Arts program, currently earning college credits.
He had such a big heart and wanted nothing more than to help people. His family and friends were the world to him and he will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 3 p.m. at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington St., Michigan City, IN, 46360.
Memorial contributions may be made to Michigan City High School (memo line – Swim Team) in Malakai's name.
