Marc Alan Curie

Born October 8, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Marc graduated from St. Lawrence Elementary School and De La Salle High School. After graduating from De La Salle, Marc became a rate clerk for the Soo Line Railroad before enrolling at the University of Minnesota in 1974. He subsequently changed his major from accounting to political science. During his tenure he campaigned for Allan Spear who served almost thirty years in the Minnesota Senate. After a short visit to San Diego in the early 1970's, Marc fell in love with the city and decided to move there in 1977. Marc worked for Crocker Bank as a mortgage loan officer for seven years and later joined a real estate agency, which he enjoyed. In 1984 Marc returned to Minneapolis and joined his alma mater, U of MN, where he worked on online courses for the Office of Continuing Education. After retiring from the University in 2015, Marc was determined to return to San Diego where he met his partner, Matt Corcoran, and they enjoyed their life together in Bankers Hill. Marc passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2024, after having been diagnosed seven months earlier with pancreatic cancer. Marc was preceded in death by his father Elias, mother Evelyn (Corbin), sister Rosann Ward, sister-in-law Doris (Hoskins), and nephew Alfred (Al) Curie Jr. He is survived by his partner (husband) Matt Corcoran, his brother (and best friend) Alfred (Al) Curie Sr., and seven close nieces/nephews and their families. Over the years Marc maintained close relationships and never lost touch with dear friends and family in Minneapolis, San Diego, Las Vegas and abroad. Marc will be missed by everyone who enjoyed his intelligence, perspective, humor, and kindness. A private family service for Marc's inurnment will take place at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Minneapolis on Saturday, 8/03/2024. A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, 8/04/2024, from 3:30-6:30 at the Bridgewater Lofts in Minneapolis where friends and family will gather to share memories of his life. Marc's friends will also gather in San Diego to celebrate his life later this summer. WE LOVE and MISS YOU, MARC!
