Marc Howden Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 8, 2025.
Marc Hamilton Howden, 68, passed away on Sunday May 18, 2025. He was born on October 31, 1956, in Mount Vernon, IL to Robert & Barbara (Caniff) Howden. Marc moved to Zionsville in 1964 and called it home for the majority of his life. He attended Indiana University and loved cheering for the Hoosiers. He was incredibly smart and spent his career as a chemist. In his retirement, Marc made the most of his time by pursuing philanthropy with the Optimist Club, tutoring high school students, and helping others any chance he could. But the thing he loved most was spending time with his family. He cherished time spent with loved ones, especially his 6 grandkids. Marc was deeply loved, and will be remembered for his incredible generosity, abundant joy and enormous heart. Marc is survived by his daughters Rebecca (Adam) Henry, Caitlin (Jacob) Robbins and grandchildren Adelyn, Brielle, Hudson, Micah, Sophie and Hadley. He is also survived by his siblings Miranda (David) Biber, Michelle (Scott Sanders) Howden and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Marc was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Shirley, and his big brother Michal. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday July 1st at the outdoor Portico Pavilion at College Park Church, 2606 W 96th St, Indianapolis, IN 46268. Join us anytime between 3 and 6pm to spend time remembering and celebrating Marc's life. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Zionsville Optimist Club, P.O.
