Marcia Kearney Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Marcia Kathleen Kearney, age 61, of Calumet, Michigan, and formerly of Frankenmuth, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 17, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, Marcia was the beloved daughter of Anthony and Kathleen Kearney. She was raised in Romeo and graduated from Romeo High School in 1981. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Michigan Technological University, where her deep and lifelong love for the Upper Peninsula began to take root.
Marcia spent most of her adult life in Vassar. She built a fulfilling career first with Walbro, and then with Frankenmuth Insurance, where she dedicated over 25 years of service before retiring. In 2023, she relocated to Calumet, where she quickly became a devoted member of the community. Retirement didn't slow her down - she threw herself into volunteer work and became an active and familiar face in town.
An avid runner and nature lover, Marcia could often be found kayaking, hiking, or exploring the outdoors. One of her proudest accomplishments was making it to Isle Royale - a dream come true. She also had a soft spot for her dogs, whose companionship brought her joy throughout the years.
Above all, Marcia was a loving and devoted mother. She is survived by her cherished children, Evan (Jill) Kobman and Zachary Kobman; her loving mother, Kathleen Kearney; and her dear sisters, Maureen (Kip) Belcher, Patricia (Kevin) Claeys, and Katherine (Jeffrey) Michlitsch. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Miranda (Shaunak), Joshua Belcher, Jacob Belcher, Ryan Claeys, Nathan Claeys, Lauren Claeys, Anita Michlitsch, Grace Michlitsch, John Michlitsch, Mary Michlitsch, and Kelly Michlitsch; as well as her great-nephew, Nirvan.
Marcia was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Kearney.
