Marcus L. Hurst Sr.

Marcus Lee Hurst Sr., 47, was born on February 9, 1978, in Lewes, DE to Carrie Hurst and Russell James Hurst Sr. He departed this life on November 2, 2025.
Marcus was educated in the Seaford Public School District. Marcus was a jack of all trades, a testament to his enduring spirit and tireless work ethic. From mechanic to landscaper to mover, he never shied away from a challenge. But perhaps his most cherished role was that of a father, a position he held with pride and dedication.
Marcus was a man of few words, his humility speaking volumes about his character. His quiet strength was his trademark, a comforting presence to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a particular passion for his family, whom he considered his most significant accomplishment.
Marcus is survived by his loving mother, Carrie Hurst-Marshall, stepfather, Charles Marshall; three children Markisha Hurst, Marcus Hurst Jr., and Menita Hurst; six grandchildren Trinity Savage, Rontrez Savage, Vontrez Savage, Dorian Cox, Dylan Cox, and Easton Hurst; siblings, Peggy Hurst Collick, Russell Hurst, Sabrina Hurst, and Michael Hurst. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell James Hurst Sr., and high school sweetheart. Vanessa Cannon whose memories he carried with him.
