Marcus Joe Scott, 71, of Daleville passed away on Friday May 23, 2025, at Ball Hospital in Muncie. He was born on July 26, 1953, in Marrowbone, KY to the late Jesse Frank and Jessie Mae (Gilbert) Scott.
Joe was a 1971 graduate of Daleville High School. On June 3, 1973, he married the love of his life Robin Snyder. In April 1976, Joe began working for the Muncie Fire Department. For 31 years Joe served the community of Muncie as a Fire Fighter, Battalion Chief and Chief Fire Inspector. After retirement Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and especially loved watching his grandson’s sporting events. He was an avid slow pitch softball player, also enjoyed playing golf and going fishing. Joe loved his auctions, going to rummage sales and cross word puzzles.
He was on the Daleville Town Board for several years, a member of the Lions Club and member of the Nazarene Church. Joe was on the Daleville Little Legue board and coached Little Legue for many years.
Joe’s sense of humor and being known as a jokester will be dearly missed by so many of his family and friends.
Joe is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Robin Scott; daughter, Christie (Kevin) Sommers; son, Corey (Erin) Scott; grandchildren, Jack (Abbigal) Scott, Konner Sommers, Ben Scott and Kade Sommers; a soon to be great grandson; brothers, Gerry (Diane) Scott, Buzz (Leigh) Scott, Johnnie (Paula) Scott and Micheal Dean Scott; sister-in-law, Kim Pennycuff; special great nieces, Loren (Jacob) Rossner and Jayden Troxell; great-great niece and nephew, Ivy and James Pickel; nieces and nephews, Shaun, Gina, Paula Ann, Candy, Dustin, Jarrod, Brandon, Shannon, Cody and Erik; along with many close cousins.
In addition to his parents Joe is preceded in death by his in-laws, Jack and Betty Snyder; sister-in-law, Ginger Rossner; niece, Michelle Rossner.
Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday May 30, 2025, at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Daleville. Burial will follow at Saunders Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday May 29, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Joe's name to the American Heart Association 7272 Greenville Ave.
