Margaret (Peg) E. Cassedy, 88, died on April 16, 2025 at Countryside Health Care. Peg was born in Boston and was the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Looney) Coughlan, and grew up in Dorchester. Peg was the loving wife of Keith Cassedy for 61 years, and is survived by her devoted daughters, Mary Beth Westenfield and her husband Otty of Medway, and Susan Hart and her husband Tom of Medway. Peg is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Annaliese Westenfield of Northampton, Meghan Tremblay and her husband Jonathon of Milford, Kate Westenfield of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida, Connor Westenfield and his partner Hannah LaCroix of Medway, Ali Barnes and her husband Jacob of Brick, New Jersey, Emma Hart of Boston and Brie Westenfield of Hartford. Peg was also the very proud great-grandmother of Olivia, Lily, Beckett and Violet. Along with her husband Keith, Peg is predeceased by her brother Henry Coughlan, her sister Mary Murphy and her brother-in-law Jack Cassedy. Peg leaves many family and friends that she loved dearly.
Peg attended Boston State, Framingham State and Simmons College, starting her career as an educator in Randolph, before earning her Masters in Library Science and beginning her second career as a children's librarian in Natick. Peg was an avid reader, loved knitting and cross stitch, and was always happy to watch a Patriots or Red Sox game. Peg was a dedicated fan of her grandchildren, attending as many soccer and basketball games as possible.
Peg and Keith retired early and were able to enjoy their love of travel. They visited Hawaii (Peg's favorite destination), Normandy, Bonaire, Ireland, and vacationed in 47 of the United States. Peg was always happy to share stories with friends and family and was always ready for a cup of tea and a chat.
Peg was a faithful member of St. Linus of Natick and drew upon her faith throughout her life. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 8:30-9:30 AM at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., Natick Common, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Linus Church, 119 Hartford St, Natick.
