Margaret Joan (Boldman) Hosey, lovingly referred to as Joanne, mom, or mamaw, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at the home of her son, on Friday, May 23, 2025. Her kind and generous heart simply giving out. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born on April 16, 1934, in Otway, Ohio to James and Louise Boldman, Joanne grew up with a deep love for family. Being born 3rd of 10 children (five boys and five girls), there was never a dull moment. She met her future husband, Gene, and they married on July 29, 1950. Together they built a beautiful life, sharing 69 years of marriage, until his passing in 2019.

Joanne was proud of her career at Anthony Thomas Candies, retiring after 49 years, at the age of 82, to be able to care for her husband in his final years of life at their home. Joanne enjoyed sports, following The Buckeyes, The Browns, and The Guardians. She loved gardening and all her flowers and plants, especially her forsythias, roses and 4 o’clocks. Her favorite activity was “junkin’” with her sisters and could always find the prettiest things to display. She was known for decorating her home for all the holidays, especially Christmas.

Above all, Joanne’s greatest joy was her family. She created a warm and welcoming home where many memories were made; hundreds of late-night conversations full of laughter over cups of coffee with her cherished sisters, Darlene, Pauline, and Brooksie; baking cookies and making ice cream with her granddaughters, Caitlin, Taylor, and Brooklynn and many holiday meals.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, a sister, her beloved son, David, and her devoted husband, Gene. She is survived by her daughter Dianne (Barry) Strawser, and her son Douglas (Raelena) Hosey. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Brian, Kevin, Jennifer, Jessica, Heather, Justin, Caitlin, Taylor (Andrew), Kayelyn, Olivia, Brooklynn, and Ava, and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers in law, Pauline Branham, Darlene and Forrest Powell, and Brooksie Pence; brother, Larry Boldman and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her “travel buddy” Rita and dear friend Lori.

Friends may call at the Newcomer Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231 on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am. Graveside services to follow at 11:30am at Northlawn Memory Gardens 7060 OH-3, Westerville, OH 43082. Pastor Jerry Funston will officiate. We ask that guests wear pink in memory. Margaret will be laid to rest alongside her beloved Gene. The world has lost a most beautiful and caring person. Her love, warmth, and kindness will be with us always.
