Margaret "Meg" Johnson, 79, of Ashtabula, lost her battle with Parkinson's on Monday, September 29, 2025, at her daughter's home with family.

Born on August 17, 1946, in Buffalo, New York, she was the daughter of the late Roger and the late Martha (Borchard) Franz.

She was married to Kenneth Johnson on March 9, 1968. They met at Theil College. They were married for 53 years before he passed. They had five children together. Their first daughter passed away shortly after birth.

She worked at K-mart for many years. Then, she was a substitute teacher until she became the Latin teacher at Ashtabula High School. She took her students on a trip to Italy. She had her master's degree in ancient languages.

She loved family, photography, painting, cross-stitching, home decor, do-it-yourself projects, and musicals. She loved flowers and birds. She photographed family and flowers every chance she got. She loved history and genealogy. She also loved to watch Bob Ross. She loved her furry friends who kept her company a lot in the end. She loved being a grandma and a great-grandma.

She left behind her four children, Kristen Ward of Ashtabula, Lisa Keeton (Bryan) of Ashland, KY, David Johnson of Ashtabula, and Jennifer M. Johnson of Jefferson; her brother, Gerry Franz (Karen), of Flagstaff, AZ, her brother Jon Franz (Elaine), of Syracuse, NY, and her sister-in-law, Barbara Bowley (Bryan), of Phoenix, AZ; her grandchildren, Jimmie Ward III (Hunter Russom), Trevor Keeton, Haley Ward (Lynnea Forshey), Ashley Hupp (Joe), Jacob Johnson, Renae Keeton, and Jade Johnson; and her great-grandson, Elijah Hupp. She was also close with her cousins Susan Haggerty of Oriskany Falls, NY, and Deb Vunk of Glenville, NY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Johnson, her sister, Janet Franz, and her daughter, Kristen Ann Johnson.

Thank you, Hospice of the Western Reserve, for your help and support.
