Obituary
Margaret Word Langston, 77, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on August 21st, 2025, at Peterson Regional Hospital in Kerrville. Margaret was born in Dallas, Texas, to Janie Louise Kirkwood Word and Karl Hazelwood Word, on July 22nd, 1948. Margaret had an older sister, Jane Alice Nelson, and a fraternal twin sister, Muriel Dunn.
Margaret grew up in Garland and Houston. She attended San Jacinto High School in Houston, where she was a cheerleader and voted most popular before graduating in 1966.
After high school, she moved to Austin where she briefly attended The University of Texas before marrying and starting a family. She had two children, Jonathan Fleming Dailey and Johanna Elizabeth Dailey. Following a divorce, Margaret reunited with and was happily married to her high school sweetheart Hubert ''Buddy'' Langston, until Buddy's passing in 2005.
Margaret's career was in finance and bookkeeping, beginning in Austin and continuing after she moved to Kerrville in 2011.
Margaret was a loving mother, a true friend to many, and was passionate about all of God's creatures, especially cats, cats, and more cats. Her granddaughter Olivia Kay Dailey was a light in her life. The community of Alcoholics Anonymous and her own sobriety were dear to Margaret and it was in this community that she found her true self. She was just 6 days away from her 14th year of sobriety when she passed.
Survivors include son Jonathan Fleming Dailey and daughter in-law Karen Dailey; daughter Johanna Elizabeth Dailey and son in-law Stefano Minale; sisters Alice Nelson and Muriel Dunn; and granddaughter Olivia Kay Dailey.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00PM September 13th, 2025, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, TX.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the exceptional team at Peterson Regional Hospital for their care and compassion in her last days.
