Marguerite Makar

Marguerite Makar, fondly known as Maggy, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Maggy was a beloved wife, loving mother, thoughtful sister, and an adored and cherished Teta. She was a brilliant chemist and worked as a public servant for the City of Detroit for over twenty years, ensuring that the city's water was clean and safe for all its residents. Above all, she was an incredibly devoted daughter of Christ and always stood steadfast in her faith. Those who knew Maggy knew she was a kind yet strong woman who strived to share the Lord's compassion with others.
Maggy is survived by her two children, Nevine and Simon; her grandchildren, Marie, Christine, Sarah, and Michael; and her siblings, Robert, Vivian, and Lillian. She is preceded in death by her husband, Farouk, and her brothers, Maurice and Joseph. She is also remembered with love by many extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 12:00 pm at St. Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church, located 3603 Livernois Road, Troy, Michigan, followed by the burial at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, and then a luncheon at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church Hall.
