Maria Farias hailed from the great state of Jalisco in Mexico. She came to the United States as a young woman, along with her husband Andres where she raised 5 children. She was a creative, wonder mother who instilled in them a strong work ethic. An expert seamstress, she sewed beautiful couture clothing for her family. Her oldest daughter, Lilia remembers receiving compliments on the beautiful original gowns worn at proms and balls. Marias creativity came too the forefront as she established a floral business which she maintained for many years.
Maria led by example; her children remember her strong work ethic. All of them emulated this by working at a young age. Like their mother, they managed their lives to include sports, music, holistic healing, and love of nature. Maria was an expert chef. People would say, Maria can make rocks taste good. Everyone believed she was the best cook in town.
Generosity defined Maria; before government programs, Maria would fix breakfast to feed the children before school. It was open seating outside. She believed there was always room at the table for one more. No one was turned away. Her children and grandchildren continue this tradition to this day. One of Marias sons Pancho has worked at the food bank and currently works at the children's advocacy canter, her other son, Andy worked in the hospitality industry and geo-tech. Marias daughter Lilia retires as a high school guidance counselor.
Maria was a beautiful, strong woman who was loved by all. She died peacefully in her sleep. She is survived by her children – Lilia Keys, Andres Farias, and Francisco Farias. Her children in law, Cessy Farias, Don Keys, Veronica Leffew; her grandchildren, Zach Smith and Bianca Graviss, Christina Laurel, Andres Jalil Farias, Lina Samira, Jermiah Cuellar, Abraham Sayeed Farias, Brandon Farias, Saleah Farias, and Desiree Dawn Toledo.
She is preceded in death by her husband Andres Farias; sons Miguel Farias, and Eduardo Farias; grandchild, Anthony Farias and great-grandchild Colbey Smith.
The Farias family will be receiving guests for a memorial visitation on Monday, March 27, 2023, in the Angelus Chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
