Obituary of Maria Teresa Lazzuri
Maria Lazzuri, 84, of Herkimer, New York, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at White Plains Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born on December 6, 1939, in Gasperina, Italy. Maria was the daughter of the late Francesco and Rosaria (Barbale) Fiorenza. She moved to the United States with her family in April of 1958.
Maria married the love of her life, Riccardo Lazzuri, on November 27, 1965, in Herkimer, NY. Maria was employed by Francia Bridal, PK Dress Factory and Remington Arms. Maria later worked as a Resident Assistant at Valley Health Services in Herkimer, where her compassion and dedication made a significant impact on the lives of those she cared for.
She was a wonderful woman of God, who was always there for her family and all those who needed her. She was a proficient seamstress, loved to garden, cook, and spend time with her family and friends. Her home was always open, embodying the true spirit of hospitality. She was a well loved member of the community and a cherished member of Christian Assembly of Schuyler.
Maria was predeceased by her husband, Riccardo Lazzuri and her parents, Francesco and Rosaria Fiorenza. Maria is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law and daughter and son-in-law, Daniel and Patty Lazzuri, Sandra and Peter Siwek, and Richard and Tracy Lazzuri. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Joshua (Esther) Siwek, Jacob (Isabelle) Siwek, Jonathan Siwek, Elizabeth Lazzuri, Jillian Lazzuri, Ellory Lazzuri, and Elijah Lazzuri. Maria leaves behind her treasured sisters and brother-in-law, Josephine De Santo and Franca and Larry Wandell. She was a second mother to her nieces, nephews, and many cousins. She also had a close sisterly relationship with her sister-in-laws.
Family and friends are invited to Christian Assembly of Schuyler, 3659 NY-5, Frankfort, NY 13340 to honor Maria's life. Calling hours will be held on July 13, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, followed by a service from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, Herkimer.
